How Great Thou Art!
A high school band in Mississippi could not play How Great Thou Art
as part of its half time show because a Federal judge said so. My heart aches for that community and for that judge. The U.S. Constitution prohibits the government from impeding the free exercise of religion or abridging the freedom of speech. Nevertheless, the judge apparently felt compelled to order just that.
This beloved hymn does not appear on HymnSite.com due to copyright restrictions, and we believe in honoring copyright laws--as well as laws which protect the free exercise of religion. But you know the hymn. You know the words. Please sing it, hum it, ponder it, and mostly pray for those who love it--and even more for those who do not.
God is great. Oh Lord, How Great Thou Art!
Be in awe of God's greatness. Be Christ like. Be Christian.
