Sunday: Peace in Promise
I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and
her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.
Genesis 3:15
The promises of God do not fail us. Even when we fail, God is good. Adam
and Eve failed to honor God's direction for their lives, and they suffered
the consequences. Generation after generation we have all failed to honor
God, and still He is good.
Just as God declared in the garden, there has been enmity between the tempter
and mankind throughout time, from before the Christian era and into the Christian
era in which we live. Yet Christ fulfilled even the earliest of prophecies.
Even though Satan was able to inflict pain on Christ in His humanity, Christ
was victorious. Satan was relegated to nothing more than a serpent which
is trodden under foot.
Christ is greater than any other person. He alone is the Christ, the Messiah,
the Son of the living God. We can know peace because this is the Christian
era, and so it shall remain because Christ lives and reigns, and He shall
return.
Blessed God, thank you for your love and for your promises. Thank you
for promising that even though Satan has the power to wound, you have provided
the way to overcome. You have promised, and you have delivered, and because
of you I have been blessed. Thank you for your rich blessings which bring
peace and joy. Amen.
